Temecula Active Release Technique For Pain Relief
What is Active Release Technique?
A favorite amongst athletes and weekend warriors, active release technique is a sub-specialty of massage that is used for addressing tight and restricted muscles, improving range of motion, and may assist in scar tissue and fascial mobility.
While this technique is just one of many I utilize in my practice, it is a great tool for the right type of problem.
What are the benefits of active release technique?
- Improving range of motion in soft tissues
- Releasing nerves that are entrapped
- Relief from pain
What is active release therapy most often used for?
- Jumper's knee
- Tennis elbow
- Golfers elbow
- Lower back pain
- Neck pain or tweaks
- Rotator cuff dysfunction
- Carpal tunnel
- Ankle restrictions or achilles tension
What causes chronic muscle tension and how is it treated?
Chronic muscle tension is the result of many different factors. The most common is muscular imbalance as a result of repetitive work or sport activities.
These muscle tension patterns are subconscious and often difficult to identify without the help of a qualified therapist. At Release Muscle Therapy, I start every new client with a full movement evaluation and range of motion testing to identify the overall pattern of muscle tension.
Once we have this information, tight and overused muscles can be addressed with therapies such as active release technique or myofascial release.
These techniques are often described as painful, but in my experience these techniques are best applied with only minor discomfort. The goal is to reduce the "threat" your nervous system experiences in order to calm nerves and stimulate adaption of your soft tissues.
This works best for pain relief and restoration of function.
